A True Nature

Chapter 1

Once we were in the skies, Aerrow put me in the medical room. Everyone gathered round to help, but Aerrow went to my room. He went into my jewellery safe, and pulled out a special necklace. It looked like a heart, but when you turned it another direction, it looked like a phoenix. It was a fiery orange.
"I hope this works." Aerrow thought. He walked back to the medical room, and told everyone to back off. Everyone parted for him to get through. He walked to my side, and sat me in an upright position. He put the necklace on, and it immediately started glowing. Every one heard a phoenix scream outside of the condor. They landed the condor on the nearest terra, and walked me out of the condor to the phoenix. The phoenix licked me with its fiery tongue. The people of the terra gathered round to watch, but nothing happened. Aerrow was getting worried and so was the phoenix, it licked me several more times. Aerrow sighed and walked me up to the phoenix, so I could touch its fiery feathers.  When he got near, he had to drop me and run from the heat. I felt the flames and crawled towards them. When I found the giant bird, I stood up and fell against it. The phoenix wrapped me in its fiery feathers, a nice thermal blanket, but no-one else would survive; only I could.  About five minutes later, I started opening my eyes. Aerrow walked over to me, and whispered in my ear,
"You've been out for a long time Dolphin." He couldn't stand the heat, so he had to back off again. I opened my eyes properly, and the phoenix un-wrapped me. I stood up, and rubbed my eyes, the world was so blurry, it was unbelievable. When the blurriness had settled, I turned to the phoenix, and cuddled it.
"Thanks girl, you saved me once again, I don't know how I can repay you." I whispered into her feathers. She cuddled back, and then flew away. In my hand she had left a golden feather, still slightly on fire. I could feel it burning my hand, so I dropped it. I looked at my hand, and saw a scar, a scar that scared me. I ran back to the condor, and went into my room, locking the door behind me. It was only a matter of time, 24 hours maybe, before the process started. A process that would make me show everyone my true nature, a true nature that I had kept control of for so long. Something I had locked away and forgotten about. A nature that puts everyone else in danger. A nature that would burn away humanity.

Chapter 2

I started figuring things out in my head, if I left at midnight, I could make it far away, but I don't think distance will help now. My past hadn't been good, I ran away from my step parents, not only because they were Cyclonians and they kept shouting at me, but because they were trying to make me a Cyclonian, trying to make me some one I'm not. It's a wonder I can control my fiery temper now. With a strong connection to the phoenix, and Cyclonian DNA, they were trying to make me into some sort of super talon. I was running madly around the room, collecting a few crystals, and few necklaces, some money, things like that, and put them into a small satchel. I ran for the hanger and launched my skimmer. I landed on the ground, waved good bye to Aerrow, who was really confused, and sped away. I soon heard someone after me; it was most likely Aerrow, or Soara. They never give up on me, or anyone for that matter. I pulled out my phoenix/heart necklace, and looked up to the sky. My phoenix didn't want to get involved, for some reason. Then I remembered why, her eggs were due to hatch today, poor thing, she's probably under a lot of stress, with becoming a mother, looking after me and other big bird things. I stopped and turned a corner. I hid down an alleyway; I heard the other person find the corner, turned out it was two people.
"Where'd she go Aerrow?"
"I don't know Soara, but I know one thing, she's starting to stress me out." someone caught me by the neck and by my pony tail and pushed me out into the light. "Soara, look." Aerrow shouted. Dark Ace had me by the neck and pony tail. I couldn't move, and I was in severe pain. I felt a knot in my gut. I knew she was coming back for me. It had only been an hour or so, but the process was already starting, Cyclonis must have sped the process up somehow.
"You want her back Aerrow? Here have her." Dark ace threw me over to Aerrow. Aerrow caught me in his arms and tried to comfort me. I pushed away from him.
"I'm sorry Aerrow; I can't be around anyone anymore." I whispered, tears streaming down my face like a mini river, before running back to my skimmer and speeding off. Soara started up her slip-wing skimmer, but Aerrow stopped her from following me. I flew off the edge of the terra, and flew to my favourite mountain. It was far enough away from any terra, wayside, and people. I waited, and waited. About an hour later, the transformation was complete, and I was the best talon ever. (Again.)

Chapter 3

I flew back to the terra, and met Dark Ace in an alleyway. He handed me some clothes. A nice black uniform with red stripes down the side. I smiled and walked away. A nice gentleman let me into his house to change. I nodded gratefully and walked away scowling. I walked back to Dark Ace and found he had supped up my Skimmer. It was awesome. Just like my uniform, black with red stripes on the sides. He had also painted a Cyclonian symbol on the side. I took it for a test drive and came back smiling. He got onto his skimmer and we sped off to where the storm hawks were. When they saw me, their mouths dropped to the ground. My phoenix had flown behind me, she changed colour with my personality, she was no longer a fiery orange, but a jet black. Dark Ace got off his skimmer and walked over to Aerrow.
"I beat you. She's the best, and her true nature has been unlocked." He boasted to Aerrow.
"What true nature? Her nature is calm and quiet." Aerrow replied, gritting his teeth. Then he looked at my face, I was no longer smiling, I showed no emotion at all. My hair was no longer in a pony tail, but side parted, and over my eye, and my irises were no longer a sky blue, they were a very dark brown, almost black. Aerrow turned back to dark ace. "What have you done to her?" he demanded.
"Only that which was meant to be." Dark Ace assured Aerrow.
"What have you done to my sister?" Aerrow re-asked, pulling out his energy blades, pointing them at Dark Ace. I started frowning. I got off my skimmer and walked until I was beside Dark Ace.
"Aerrow," I grunted, "He only did what was meant to be, and what would have happened anyway." Dark Ace put his arm around my shoulder. "You hurt him, I'll kill you." Aerrow didn't back off.
"And Dolphin," Soara started, "You kill aerrow, I'll make sure that I torture you for the remainder of your life." Aerrow's Energy blades fell back, I knew he couldn't do it. I was too precious to him.
"You were never as strong as you looked Aerrow; I always knew at heart, you were a chicken. If you had the guts, you would kill me now." Aerrow closed his eyes and sighed, and then he opened his eyes again, and pointed his energy blades at me. My irises turned black, and my phoenix got even blacker. Her babies flew down beside her, and they were black too. I pulled out my energy blades and combined them into one weapon. Neither of us would back down, Aerrow charged, and I sidestepped, tripping him up. Black energy surrounded me. This wasn't good for him, or anyone here. He tried again, and the same thing happened, he was too slow. I closed my eyes, and thought about how Soara had used the thunder strike on me. As I thought, the same thing happened. I powered up my blades, when they were ready, I opened my eyes, and threw the shot at Aerrow. He was Awestruck and couldn't move. The thunder strike knocked him down, and knocked him out. I smiled and stepped back.
"It's about time that kid learnt not to mess with cyclonian Talons, this time, he picked the wrong one." I paused, "When he wakes up, tell him, the Dolphin he knew is gone." I walked back to my skimmer, and got on. "Meet you on Cyclonia Dark Ace." I started up my skimmer and sped away, with my phoenix and her babies following. When we both reached Cyclonia, we went to see Master Cyclonis. We entered her throne room, and she immediately sensed us.
"Well, Dark Ace was it as easy as I said it would be?" she asked inquisitively.
"Even easier master." He replied. "Dolphin played right into our hands, and now she is your loyal talon." The shine in my eyes had dulled, and I was having flashbacks. I came to Cyclonia on purpose. Aerrow rescued me. We broke out together. It was all so clear. What was I doing here? The shine came back in my eyes, they turned sky blue again, and I snapped back to reality.
"What the hell am I doing here?" I turned and walked out of the room, I got onto my supped up skimmer and flew back to the terra. I walked up to the condor and saw the markings of a fight. I walked through the condor, to the medical room. When everyone saw me, they parted to let Soara through. She pulled out her staff, and started fighting me.
"You killed him!" she shouted, anger and sadness in her voice.
"Soara! I didn't come here to fight, I want to know what's going on!" I shouted back, pulling out my energy blades to defend myself.
"You should know you did it!" she shouted back.
"I did what?"  I asked.  She stopped hitting me.
"You don't know?" she whispered.
"Will someone please tell me what I'm meant to know!" I shouted.  Piper came through the crowd, and said,
"You and Aerrow had a fight, you used the thunder strike on him and… we think he's dead." She started crying. I dropped my energy blades, and walked over to Aerrow. While I did that Piper whispered to Soara, "That really is Dolphin, she must have been under cyclonian control."  I stood by Aerrow and held his hand, crying gently. I was whispering to myself,
"I didn't mean to hurt you, I wasn't me. I want you back. Please Aerrow, I want you back. I want you to be okay." Suddenly Aerrow opened his eyes. He looked at me, and smiled.
"Good to have you back Dolphin, good to have the real you back." I cried a new flood of tears.
"The others thought you were dead, I'm glad you're okay." I whispered, still sobbing.  He sat up and hugged me.
"You were controlled, I could tell. Your irises were black." I smiled. Then I showed him the scar on my hand.
"When I picked up the phoenix feather, it burnt me. I looked at my hand, and that was there. I knew it meant one thing; they had managed to place even more cyclonian DNA in me. Cyclonis somehow sped up the DNA take-over process."  I admitted.
"You picked up the family trait. And I'm really proud of you Dolphin." Aerrow whispered into my hair. Soara was crying behind the crowd, she turned and walked away, Soara walked to the hanger and launched her skimmer.
"Soara's going home now Aerrow." I whispered.
"I don't mind. If she needs to go, she needs to go." He whispered back.
Meanwhile
Soara flew home to the far side of the Atmos, and found her crew relaxing.
"Hey Soara," Gunner stated, "Want to go on vacation to the other side of Atmos? Terra tropica? Or somewhere else?"
"Why not, it's time the storm hawks met you lot." She responded, "We'll leave in two hours."
Back on the other side of Atmos
"Aerrow?" I looked up from my book, "What are you doing on the bridge? You need to be resting." I stated.
"I think I've had enough sleep. Besides, I want to be up and about." He replied.
"Don't use too much energy then." I responded, turning back to my book. I closed the book and sighed. Aerrow walked over to me.
"I don't think we've beaten it yet, there's just the tiniest bit of black left in you're eyes." As I looked at his smiling face, my whole mood lifted. The little bit of black in my eyes disappeared, and so did the scar on my hand.
"Thank you Aerrow, for everything. I wouldn't be anything without you."
"Yes you would, you would still be my little sister."

Chapter 4

He put his arm around me. "Besides, everything that happened today is in the past, and we are in the present, you need to forgive yourself."
"But, Aerrow, what if I had killed you? Then I would crumble into nothing." He hugged me.
"You couldn't have killed me, my hope in you was strong, and that's what kept me alive, all I needed to wake me up was your voice, and words from your heart." I broke down in his arms. I cried and cried. Everyone had been watching us, and was now going,
"Aw." Except Finn, he said,
"Give me a break." I blushed and burst into a fresh flood of tears. Eventually Aerrow stopped me crying, and took me out of the bridge. He kneeled down to my height and asked,
"Where did Lightning go?" he asked gently.
"The last time I saw Lightning, was when I saw the fake Lightning, so I have absolutely no clue." I replied, still wiping tears from my eyes. Suddenly Lightning pounced on me. "What happened to you?" she cocked her head to one side. Lightning is very quiet, she doesn't like to speak. "I guess we'll never find out." I continued. I cuddled her, and she cuddled back. Lightning climbed onto my shoulder, and we all walked back into the bridge. The moment Radarr saw Lightning, he ran to greet her, knocking her off my shoulder, and cuddled her. Me and Aerrow looked at them and giggled. I went and stood by stork, and Aerrow went to talk to Piper. I turned and looked at my squadron family. "Wait… where's Junko?" I asked. Then we all heard a yell coming from the kitchen. I ran to the kitchen, and found Junko cooking; I got a sniff of the food, and went green. I shut the door to the kitchen, and sat outside. When I returned to my normal colour, I got up and went to my room. I fished out a crystal, one that Piper hadn't got in her collection, and walked back to the bridge. "Piper," I threw the crystal to her, "Think fast." She caught the crystal and covered her mouth with her hand.
"Where did you get this crystal? I've been looking for it for ages!" she said.
"I have had it for ages, I just had it at the bottom of my pile of crystals." I replied, walking back over to stork. I have only one nightmare now to worry about. Piper getting with Aerrow. I shuddered.
"Vacation time! Terra tropica everyone?" I asked.
"Yeah!" they all shouted back.
"Stork set a course for Terra tropica."
